Debate Star Wars

Item: Star Wars

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Incorrect name, does not indicate correct movie name to reflect it's position amongst the saga thus mucking up movie libraries such as Radarr, Kodi, Plex and Emby just to name a few. Surely you could have a sub title name or also known as name so that it does not interfere with media libraries.

I invite you to read this previous content report as well as your previous discussion here.

Sorry like many others, I disagree, it's even called A New Hope on the official Star Wars website.

The modus operandi of the new sequel trilogy under Disney’s watch is to get away from the faults of the prequels however minute they may be, even in the naming conventions. The official title for The Force Awakens isn’t Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, it’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The episodic number is simply a reference to the whole saga’s sequence — it’s even there to distinguish between movies on the official website — and fans have gladly referred to it by the title just like they’ve referred to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi since those releases.

But, in this case, since we’re going to be getting a whole lot more Star Wars movies — including Rogue One, which could complicate things even further —fans should simply adopt the Star Wars moniker to refer to the grand story as a whole rather than the specified 1977 original. In turn, stubborn fans should just eat crow and take to calling the first movie A New Hope since the rest of the films are known as under these individual titles. When you want to refer to a specific moment in the galaxy far, far away, it’s just easier that way.

Even if you disagree, our rules are here and we respect them.

So in other words you make up your own rules and choose what you prefer to name things? If I had a choice I would rename the movies within Radarr myself but I can't because the program is made to pull data from your site.

So for the movie Open Water 3: Cage Dive you name it Cage Dive but still use the Open Water 3: Cage Dive photo as the cover, can't you do this for Star Wars then? The way you've implemented this has just made the whole ordeal confusing for a movie goer trying to find the correct sequence of the movies.

So in turn you may as well go elsewhere to find the info about the movies than come here and use TMDB

So can't you do this

The displayed poster is based on the user votes.

This is done. The alternative titles are listed here.

Okay that's fair enough.

So why name Open Water 2: Adrift by its proper name

Instead of just Adrift? Like you have done with Cage Dive?

To discuss this, you need to file a content report on the concerned movie page.

Nah I won't bother, from my experience it's a complete waste of time. Good day to you sir.
