主人公万木朝颜是一名新手法医学者，为查明死因，找出遗体留下的证据，必须认真面对遗体，甚至她的努力有时可能会超越工作的范畴，刑警万木平不仅是朝颜的父亲，还是工作搭档，朝颜解剖，父亲调查，通过遗体查明案件真相，拯救还活着的人的内心。

萬木朝顏是一名見習法醫學者，她對遺體總是抱持認真的態度，為了查明死因找出證據，有時可能會超出面對工作的範疇。於此同時朝顏的父親萬木平則是一名資深刑警，也是朝顏的工作夥伴，朝顏負責解剖、平則負責搜查並解開謎題。自遺體中發掘「活著的證明」的過程，也拯救了還活著的人的內心。

然而朝顏與平仍有著耿耿於懷的過去：2011年3月11日的東日本大地震，至今仍行蹤不明的名單裡，朝顏的母親就是其中一人，因為母親連遺體都沒有留下，朝顏為了替母親尋找「活著的證明」而成為法醫，平至今也不時回到東北探詢妻子的下落。

Asagao (Juri Ueno) is a rookie forensic scientist, who works at a university forensic medicine class in Kanagawa Prefecture. She is a licensed doctor and respected by those around her. Asagao lives with her father Taira (Saburo Tokito), who is a veteran detective. Asago's mother died in the 2011 Tohoku earthquake disaster and her mother’s body was never found.

One day, Asagao’s forensic medicine class unexpectedly works with the investigation section of the police department. When a dead body is found, the dead body is transferred to Asagao’s forensic medicine class. Asagao now works with her detective father.

Maki Asagao (Ueno Juri) es una patóloga forense novata que trabaja en el Departamento de Medicina Forense de la Universidad de Kouun en la Prefectura de Kanagawa. Aunque aún es una novicia, pero posee habilidades sobresalientes y una gran cantidad de conocimientos que le han ganado el respeto de las personas que la rodean. Es una joven cariñosa, compasiva y sincera que se preocupa más por los demás que por sí misma. Sin embargo, Asagao no solo perdió a su madre (Ishida Hikari) en el Gran Terremoto del Este de Japón, sino que continúa sintiendo una profunda pena por el hecho de que el cuerpo ni siquiera se haya encontrado.
