Discuss The Flash

Iris explaining pocket dimensions to Caitlin annoyed me so much since she is a fucking reporter, not a scientist. They clearly are just writing dialogue for Barry, Cisco, Caitlin, and wells then forgot to add iris to the conversation and since she is the leader they just stole Cisco/Wells lines and gave it to her, which doesn't make her seem like she is adding to the team but instead makes her looks like an idiot and it begs the question why is she talking about pocket dimensions?

You know what they could have done? You know how they almost got that last bus meta but he fell into his pocket demension as he delivered the mail?...... why didn't iris act like a reporter and ask about the letters he was sending and what was the return address was on them? You know like how a reporter would do.....like find clues and follow them but nope let's write her like a god damn scientist!

She could be a team player in a realistic way but they just don't know how to use a reporter on the team when really a reporter research skills would help WHEN THEY ARE SEARCHING FOR MISSING PEOPLE THE WHOLE FICKING SEASON! They write her like a last minute school project by simply slapping together lines soo fucking clearly mention for team flash before she joined that it pisses me off that she is even on the team when it seems like the writers didn't want her on and now just want to effortlessly feed her lines to give her propose......

They've always sucked at writing her, especially, but they suck at writing everyone these days. Remember when the show first started and Barry/Wells were the physics and science geniuses, Cisco was the genius engineer, and Caitlin was the medical expert? What happened to that?! Barry is constantly needing pretty basic stuff explained to him and offers nothing intellectually. Cisco does EVERYTHING with occasional help from Wells and the show only remember Caitlin is a doctor when someone breaks a leg.

Now let's talk about Iris. When the show started she wanted to be a cop like her dad. Then The Flash popped up and she became a journalist to report on him. Then she fell in love with Barry and became his girlfriend and we didn't hear much about her career after that. Then she found out Barry's secret and hung out at the lab all the time. Then they got married and they started calling her the leader of the team despite her not being qualified in any way and the fact that they never really showed her leading or what she added to the team. Her entire existence has always revolved around Barry. She has nothing outside lot him. No career. No friends. No hobbies. She's just Barry's girl. It's sad.

She could've at least have been a reporter, as you said, and offered deductive reasoning and sources. Instead she just stands around in a room and once in a while gives someone an order that they follow for some reason.

I can't stand Iris. Easily the worst character. Having said that though ALL of the romance arcs in this, Supergirl and Legends are terrible. Honestly, I just skip through those scenes now.
