- It's a TV series. Not sure why IMDb lists them as separate movies when they were clearly packaged and released only on TV.
- Episodes didn't air in the same order on every PBS affiliate. I used the ordering posted by WNET/Thirteen, as they produced the show: https://licensing.wnet.org/programs/men-who-made-the-movies/
- In the early 2000s, many of the original 8 episodes were recut (including, possibly, shortening from 90 minutes to 60), and their narration and graphics/titles replaced. The revised versions aired many times on TCM, and most were also released as bonus features on collector's edition DVDs of the directors' films.
- The final episode on Samuel Fuller, completed in 2002, is based on an interview shot in 1989. It screened at the Atlanta Film Festival on 5 Jun 2002 before airing on TCM.

If you are curious to see an intact original episode, a gentleman named Ray scanned an original 16mm print of Frank Capra and uploaded it to Vimeo. It's actually the only version of that episode I've found.
