Biography

Jill Sandmire is an native of Des Moines, Iowa where her love of Theater, Music, and Arts was fostered and a general interest towards story telling. After a brief stint at Coe College, Jill as a young actress had impressive roles in such plays as 'Pheadra' by Jean Racine, as well as 'And Baby Makes Seven' by Paula Vogel, playing the roles of Ruth, Orphan, and Henri all under the tutelage of Director Steven Marc Weiss.

Soon after Jill moved to complete her BFA at Columbia College Chicago where she was honored to work under some of the most renowned in Chicago such as Sheldon Patinkin, David Woolley, Caroline Lotta, Will Casey, and Sean Graney.

As a Chicago based actress for the last 10 years she has built a career being as versatile as possible while knowing the ins a-and outs of all things film, commercial, and television. She's involved in film and theater not only as an actress but also a make-up artist and producer with multiple titles under her belt.

Jill is a SAG-AFTRA actress and has worked on such films as 'Chicago Overcoat' Directed by Brian Caunter, 'Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer' with director Mark Vadik, and stared in'Sweet' a film Directed by Cameron Downing and produced in association with the theater company Nothing Without a Company a nonprofit theater company of which she helped found.

Her most challenging role was playing 'Amber' in "Cyrus" because she was not the most likable character and finding herself playing an evil character while exciting, was challenging. As a trained athlete, Jill enjoys a competitive 'bout. Whether that is sword fighting, fist fighting, running, or riding a motorcycle she enjoys active and physically challenging roles the most.

When on a film such as 'One Small Hitch' whose make-up department won the award for best make-up in WRIFF Award of Richmond Film Fest 2013, Jill delights in making actors/actress feel comfortable, and confident in the characters. It is another way for her exercise her creative muscles. She specializes in attention to detail and continuity on set.

Producing is a passion for her especially when it is by women and for women. Most of her work will feature roles for women that are empowering. Her wide variety of interests, travels and education give her a unique and constitutive background for working in film and television.
