Actrice chinoise, Shuya Sophia Cai est née à Shanghai en 2008. La gamine débute très jeune une carrière à l’écran en interprétant dès l’âge de sept ans un rôle dans le film chinois Somewhere Only We Know (Jinglei Xu, 2015). Finalement, en 2018, elle est sélectionnée pour interpréter la fille de Jason Statham dans En eaux troubles (Jon Turteltaub, 2018), grosse production sino-américaine qui la révèle au public international. Pour sa prestation, elle est nominée aux Young Artist Awards. En 2021, on la retrouve dans un épisode de la série Mr Corman, mais c’est surtout son retour dans la franchise Meg qui retient l’attention. Désormais adolescente, Shuya Sophia Cai revient dans En eaux très troubles (Ben Wheatley, 2023) où son rôle est encore plus étoffé. |
