1927年的上海笼罩在白色恐怖之中，中共党员剑华被敌人杀害当天，他的儿子出生了。地下党负责人将其妻闵雯转移至苏区，其子托给工人顾阿根收养，起名小亮。几经波折，小亮被一官家收养。10岁那年，小亮得知自己身世，逃往上海寻找母亲。闵雯正巧也去苏北接小亮，可小亮已经不在那了。小亮流浪在街头被顾阿根找到，便带着他随难民奔向武汉，中途被炸，小亮在一伤兵帮助下到了武汉，并成为一名小八路。闵雯见到小亮，却在特殊身份不能相认。直到他们都来到延安，小亮才终于见到了日夜思念的妈妈。

In 1927, Shanghai was shrouded in white terror. On the day Communist Party member Jian Hua was killed by the enemy, his son was born. The leader of the underground party transferred his wife Min Wen to the Soviet District, and entrusted his son to the worker Gu Argen for adoption, naming him Xiaoliang. After several twists and turns, Xiao Liang was adopted by an official family. At the age of 10, Xiao Liang learned of his own background and fled to Shanghai to find his mother.
