Discuss Soft & Quiet

On the one hand, it's rare to see a modern movie that shows the duplicity of white women. But on the other, these characters are so cookie-cutter and badly written. It's like the writer just copy/pasted talking points from Reddit or Twitter. We spend the entire movie with these characters and they do not come off as any semblance of real people. The main racists is having trouble conceiving but that never really brought up past the beginning. Most racists have life issues that push them towards being racists. Instead we're "told" through words and not acts. It's just a lazy way to get us to not like them without having to do the work. Even the reveal that they're racists is done in a silly way via swastika pie.

Then in the later half it finally starts to get interesting when they introduce two Asian characters who are, of course, there only to be victims. The racists are so clumsy and insufferable with their racism and yet we don't get to see them get their comeuppance in the end so it's edging and no climax.
