Guyana francesa, no fa tant de temps. Eliott, un jove i ingenu investigador d'antropologia, s'embarca en una expedició per estudiar els Otopis, una misteriosa tribu de la selva amazònica. També és una oportunitat perquè s'allunyi de les urpes de la seva possessiva mare, Chantal de Bellabre, una etnòloga odiada per la professió per les seves pràctiques esbiaixades i despietades. En arribar al bosc, Elliot s'adona que els Otopis no són els “bons salvatges” que havia imaginat. Alcohòlic, violent, corrupte: convertiran la seva expedició en un veritable infern a la selva. Afortunadament, Chantal, consumida pel remordiment i preocupada pel seu fill, decideix abandonar la seva pròpia expedició i el cercarà a la selva, amb l'ajuda del no tan servicial Tinent-Comandant Raspailles i els seus homes.

French Guyana, not so long ago. Eliott, a young and naive anthropology researcher, goes on an expedition to study the Otopis, a mysterious tribe from the Amazon rainforest. It is also an opportunity for him to get away from the grip of his possessive mother, Chantal de Bellabre, an ethnologist hated by the profession for her biased and cold-hearted practices. Arriving in the forest Elliot realizes the Otopis are not the “good savages” he had imagined. Alcoholic, violent, crooked: they will turn his expedition into real hell in the jungle. Fortunately, Chantal, consumed by remorse and worried about her son, decides to abandon her own expedition and goes looking for him in the jungle, with the help of the not so helpful Lieutenant-Commander Raspailles and his men.

Jeune aventurier candide, Eliott de Bellabre part dans la jungle amazonienne à la recherche d’une mystérieuse tribu indienne. Il espère trouver le paradis sur terre. Il va déchanter. D'autant que son pire ennemi se lance à sa poursuite : sa mère, la terrifiante Chantal de Bellabre, accompagnée par le lieutenant-colonel Raspaillès, le plus mauvais militaire de l'histoire de France.

Eliott, jeune chercheur naïf, part étudier les Otopis, un peuple mystérieux d’Amazonie. C’est aussi l’occasion pour lui de s’éloigner de l’emprise de sa mère, la possessive Chantal de Bellabre.
