So this is basically a hypothetical question, as obviously this wasn't really explained at all in the movie. But, one thing I couldn't quite understand is why did Pinhead feel the need to basically create a second Pinhead? I mean, through all 8 other movies, there have been other cenobites either present, or actually created at some point in the movie. Every single one has been imaginative and mostly different (though some, like Bound and Chatterer do have similar copies).

So, why the heck all of a sudden did he create a knock-off version of himself? You'd almost think something that big would have been further explored. Like, Pinhead wanted to create him to later use as a decoy of the real Pinhead. Or Pinhead was trying to create a protege to take his place for some reason, or maybe expand his influence to new horizons (in other words cover more ground). But, nope... Without any real explanation, he just became yet another cenobite.
