本美术片由原上海电影制片厂美术小组绘制，与其时的政治形势有一定联系。 　　勤劳勇敢能干的小花猫是大伙的好朋友，它日夜不辞辛苦为大伙看家护院。某天，两只老鼠于光天化日之下潜入一户人家，不但糟蹋了谷仓里的粮食，还将房间弄得乱七八糟，临末，它们偷走了母鸡产的大个鸡蛋。在拖着鸡蛋东张西望急匆匆往回赶时，鬼祟的一幕恰被正在打篮球的大花猫看见，母鸡得以保住她的蛋宝宝。后来，又有四只老鼠公然搞破坏，在公鸡大哥和鸭大嫂的帮助下，大花猫决定将它们捉个措手不及。
