When the sergeant was turning into one of the hungries (I think that's what they called them), there was some dialogue about him being married I think. And then that word "transit" was thrown into the mix. I didn't get most of it. Can someone explain what transpired in that scene? Seemed to be pretty emotional to the little girl.

He used to shout this word when he was talking about the infected kids in general, in short to keep himself at distance like they are object for a mission since he had to transfer the infected kids at the wheelchair everyday before the outbreak at the base, for example transit, you little bastards etc.

I think he screamed something like "Transit! You little abortions!" every morning before take them to class. I interpreted her saying, "Transit." after she killed him as a sign of mourning. Since that was the name she first came to associate with him.
