It's funny how all the other Italian characters here have an Italian accent except for Dexter. Perhaps Dexter couldn't pull a convincing Italian accent or the producers/director that be thought the American public of 1951 may be disillusioned with a Valentino using an Italian accent. No one after all still knows what Valentino's speaking voice sounds like.
Amongst all the other biographical actors to portray Valentino though, he resembles him the most, but perhaps a bulkier American version of Valentino.
The film is not as bad as it was made out but it is clearly fiction through and through. I recommend to not enter into the film looking for an accurate portrayal of Valentino, but I did enjoy it for the resemblance to the Rudolph alone.
