The story of the friendship between Ioan and Michele respectively Romanian and Italian. The serendipitous encounter of two worlds apart: the travails of a young man, son of the Post-Communist Revolution, who flees his country in search of a better future and the travails of another youth who instead scrapes along the margins of a Western society that is unable to offer gainful employment to so much of its youth. In the background of this rapport between a simple Romanian youth and his marginalized Italian counterpart, there is a West which on one side is still reeling from the collapse of the Communist ideology and on the other, in the clutches of a Capitalist myth which has increasingly assumed, as it propulsive force, harsh competitiveness and an intensification of social inequality.

Ioan a romániai forradalom utáni nemzedék tagja, Olaszországban keres jobb életet, szebb jövőt, ahol összebarátkozik az olasz Michelével, a nyugati társadalom hasonlóan kilátástalan sorsú tagjával. Kettejük fennmaradásáért folytatott küzdelme mögött a két világ közötti különbségek és azonosságok is megjelennek. A kis költségvetésű film nagy sikert aratott a világ fesztiváljain.

Um encontro de dois mundos distantes: Ioan, um jovem romeno, filho da Revolução Pós-Comunista, que sai de seu país em busca de um futuro melhor, e Michele, um jovem italiano que come pelas beiradas de uma sociedade ocidental incapaz de oferecer emprego a boa parte de sua juventude. No plano de fundo desta amizade, há um Ocidente que de um lado ainda está sentindo o impacto do colapso da ideologia comunista. E que de outro é refém das garras do mito capitalista que cada vez mais gera competitividade cruel e intensifica a desigualdade social. Ioan conhece uma fotógrafa famosa e confunde exploração com amor, o que finalmente reforça sua amizade com Michele e o leva ao fim de sua busca.

Cover-boy trata sobre la amistad de un rumano (Ioan) y un italiano (Michele), el encuentro entre dos mundos diferentes: el esfuerzo de un joven, hijo de la revolución post-comunista, que abandona su patria en busca de un futuro mejor y los esfuerzos de un hombre que vive la crisis del empleo de Occidente. El encuentro de Ioan con una fotógrafa famosa y su equivocada opinión sobre el amor en sentido utilitarista, reforzarán finalmente su amistad con Michele y le guiarán al destino final de su viaje.
