Back country of Provence. Summer 1972. In the distance, a fire. Alain leaves with the men of the village to fight the fire while waiting for the firemen to arrive. Left alone with her son Simon, Chantal must continue to run the cheese dairy and look after the herd. The fire is getting dangerously close to the family farm... and no news from Alain.

Arrière-pays provençal. Été 1972. Au loin, un incendie. Alain, part avec les hommes du village combattre le feu en attendant l’arrivée des pompiers. Restée seule avec son fils Simon, Chantal doit continuer à faire tourner la fromagerie et s’occuper du troupeau. L’incendie, s’approche dangereusement de la ferme familiale… et aucune nouvelle d’Alain.
