T.S. est un enfant prodige de 12 ans, passionné par la cartographie et les inventions scientifiques. Un jour, il reçoit un appel inattendu du musée Smithsonian lui annonçant qu’il a reçu le très prestigieux prix Baird pour la découverte de la machine à mouvement perpétuel, et qu’il est invité à venir faire un discours. À l’insu de tous, il décide alors de traverser les États‐Unis dans un train de marchandises pour joindre Washington D.C… Mais là‐bas personne ne se doute qu’il n’est qu’un enfant. Muni d’un télescope, de quatre compas et d’un squelette de sansonnet, T.S. entreprend un voyage initiatique qui lui permettra peut‐être enfin de comprendre comment marche le monde…

Sur le toit du train qui file vers le Nord, entourés de centaines de candidats à l'émigration, Sayra et Casper se rencontrent. Il fuit son passé criminel, elle espère un avenir meilleur: parviendront-ils à échapper ensemble à leur destin et à franchir la frontière ?

Pendant la Grande Dépression, aux Etats-Unis, Tommy et Eddie, deux adolescents de la classe moyenne, ne savent pas, lorsqu'ils invitent leurs petites amies à une fête de collège, qu'ils vivent leur dernière belle soirée. Le soir même, Tommy avoue à Eddie que sa mère, au chômage, en est réduite, à l'emmener à la soupe populaire. Chez lui, Eddie découvre que son père a été renvoyé de la cimenterie. La situation ne s'améliorant pas, les deux copains décident de chercher du travail sous des cieux plus hospitaliers. Ils se jettent, la nuit venue, sur la plate-forme d'un train de marchandise. Au matin, ils se querellent avec un autre vagabond, qui s'avère être une fille, Sally. Le trio, devenu inséparable, va essuyer bien des avanies...

Le film explore la destruction d’une gare unique à Zurich et la construction d’une nouvelle prison et d’un centre de police à sa place. Vu de la fenêtre du cinéaste, et avec le témoignage de réfugiés en attente d’expulsion, le film scrute la façon dont nous faisons face à l’extinction de l’histoire et à son remplacement par une sécurité totale.

Trina découvre que Bill est aussi pauvre qu’elle, il fait l’homme-sandwich et porte un costume publicitaire affublé d’un plastron illuminé. Il lui propose de se réfugier chez lui, dans un bidonville. Trina le suit et va découvrir tout un monde vivant en marge de la société. Ils vivent ensemble et décident de se marier. Trina tombe enceinte. Lassé de leur vie miséreuse Bill va tenter de s’en sortir en participant à un cambriolage. Mais celui-ci se termine mal. Le couple va s’échapper dans un wagon de marchandises, espérant avancer vers un monde meilleur.

Bunky Blum is picked on in school. His only peace comes during lunch hour, when he and his mentally ill Mother eat McDonalds and visit a talking train named Train. The 83 year-old train is now a caged monument in the center of a children's park. However, Bunky believes that the train will break out of its confines and save him from the bullies of the schoolyard. When Bunky realizes that the train is not magical, all hope is lost and Bunky has a moral melt down. In a fit of rage, Bunky punches a girl in a wheelchair. The unsympathetic move lands Bunky on the losing end of a full out brawl. Bunky's Mother witnesses the schoolyard violence and she erupts into her own fit of rage, which ultimately sends her back to the psych ward. In the end, Bunky is left without hope, without family and without security. He returns to the old train to make a final plea for vengeance. But Bunky's giant steal savior has not come for vengeance. Rather, it offers Bunky what he needs, a shush of peace.

Two tramps hold up small-town Ferndale's railway station night operator Helen, lock her in a closet, and escape. Later, standing on a bridge over the freight yards, Helen sees the two bandits aboard an outgoing freight and drops onto the roof of the car from above as it crosses underneath. A chase along the roofs of the speeding cars ensues.

It is a ride through America's backyard. It is a musical endeavor that feels like a drama. It is a sociological examination of the ignored.

"Who Is Bozo Texino?" is a film study on the 100-year-old tradition of hobo and railworker graffiti. Mostly shot on freight trips across the western US, the film includes interviews with some of the railroad’s greatest graffiti legends: Colossus of Roads, The Rambler, Herby (RIP) and the granddaddy of them all, Bozo Texino. The film also catches some of the socio-economic history of hobo subculture from its roots after the Civil War to the present day. The range of the interviews, and the film’s style deal with both the clichés and the harsh realities of tramp life.

The mighty 4449 was painted black with BNSF decals to head up a BNSF Employee Appreciation Special in July, 2000. Running in excursions over former Burlington Northern trackage, the Daylight treated enthusiastic throngs of spectators to the sights and sounds of thundering steam power. Starting in Vancouver, Washington, we follow the train across the state and into British Columbia, Canada, and Idaho, visiting the cities of Tacoma, Seattle, Everett, Bellingham, and Vancouver, B.C. A special highlight is a ride aboard the train along the Puget Sound, from Balmer Yard in Seattle to Everett. You'll see the EAS traveling over Stevens Pass - what an awesome sight that is! - and at Skykomish and exiting Cascade Tunnel. Continuing eastward, the train stops at Wenatchee and Spokane, then crosses the long bridge over Lake Pend Oreille on its way to Sandpoint, Idaho.
