Dewey Bunnel, Dan Peek and Gerry Beckley formed America in the late 1960's in London. After their self-titled debut album was released in 1972, the band captured the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. By 1975, America had 4 songs in the Top 10 Pop Singles chart in the US [Tin Man, Ventura Highway, I Need You, and Horse With No Name]. They released the George Marin-produced "Holiday" ust a few months prior to this 1975 performance that captures America at the top of their game.

Nina Simone was one of the greatest female vocalists of the 20th Century. She was equally at home singing jazz, blues, soul, gospel or pure pop. Nina made four appearances at the Montreux Festival between 1968 and 1990.

This highly energetic concert reinforces Marvin Gaye as the undisputed prince of Motown. Where it resulted in thundering appreciation and applause from his audience. Among one of the most gifted talents to come up through the ranks of the Motown label, Gaye paved the way for the unrelenting progression of popular black tracks.

The Who’s 1982 tour, which was all in North America apart from two warm-up dates at the Birmingham NEC in England, was their last to feature Kenney Jones on drums and the band did not tour again until 1989. The tour promoted the recent IT’S HARD album, which had been released in June 1982, and the set list included a number of tracks from that album, some of which the band would only play live on this tour. This concert film features the show from the second of their two nights at New York’s Shea Stadium and was filmed on 13 October 1982.

Fans continue to treasure the songs and performances of John Denver, one of the most popular recording artists of the 20th century. Before his death in 1997, Denver toured the world, landing in Birmingham, England, for the 1986 concert captured here. The sunny country star provides heartfelt renditions of many of his biggest hits, including "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Sunshine on My Shoulders."

Documentary is about the life and work of American screenwriter Waldo Salt who won two Academy Awards and was put on the Hollywood blacklist in the 1950s. The story is told through interviews with collaborators and friends such as Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Jon Voight, John Schlesinger and with clips from Salt's films, chiefly Midnight Cowboy.

B.B. King is the greatest living exponent of the blues and considered by many to be the most influential guitarist of the latter part of the 20th century. His career dates back to the late forties and despite now being in his eighties he remains a vibrant and charismatic live performer. B.B. King has been a frequent visitor to the Montreux festival, appearing nearly 20 times, so choosing one performance was no easy task. This 1993 concert will surely rank as one of his finest at any venue. With a superb backing band and a great set list it's a must for any blues fan.
