Learning Outcomes and an Individual Success Plan

Students will initiate a mid-conference during Topic 5. This conference will allow the student, preceptor and faculty to discuss progress toward meeting course learning goals. This conference will also include a review of the written capstone project change proposal NRS 493 Benchmark Capstone Project Change Proposal preceptor recommendations.

Identify one nursing journal and one healthcare conference where you would like to present your research. Discuss why you selected these choices.

Topic 1: Learning Outcomes

Developing learning outcomes at a granular level within courses helps students understand and articulate their progress toward goals they set in the short-term and long-term. These goals can include meeting rigorous high school expectations, exploring post-secondary educational and career interests, overcoming obstacles and connecting to opportunities.

MC1: Effective communication: Students develop therapeutic communication skills and an understanding of how their verbal and written communications nrs 493 capstone project change proposal presentation others intellectually and emotionally. They also engage in discussion that is persuasive and respectful.

Students use the NRS-493 Individual Success Plan resource to identify specific deliverables they will complete throughout this course. These may be negotiated with faculty, including the completion of the required practice immersion hours and work associated with course objectives.

Topic 3: Interprofessional Collaboration

Many health conditions require the attention of multiple medical professionals. When teams communicate effectively, patients benefit from a holistic understanding of their care and treatment.

Interprofessional collaboration helps reduce medication errors, improves patient experience (and thus HCAHPS), and saves hospitals money by eliminating workflow redundancies and operational inefficiencies. It also increases job satisfaction and lowers burnout rates for NRS 493 Individual Success Plan workers.

Interprofessional education can help students understand others' roles in a team and value the unique expertise that each discipline brings. However, the challenge of implementing interprofessional teamwork remains.

Topic 4: Evidence-Based Practice

Student success plans are individualized, student-driven plans that address students’ needs and goals in support of social, emotional and physical development, meeting rigorous high school expectations and exploring postsecondary education and career interests. These plans also address barriers that may hinder student academic performance.

This library guide offers a nrs 493 topic 1 lopes activity tracker kr on evidence-based practice (EBP) and includes a Reference Shelf of supporting eBooks, and Tools. It is designed to help students locate and evaluate evidence from scholarly research using the PICO model: patient population, intervention, comparator, outcome. It also provides information about effective literature searching and appraising sources of information.

Topic 5: Leadership

Leadership is not something that you’re born with or without, and it can be a powerful tool to create lasting change. Leaders can be found in all areas of society, from businesses and organizations to sports teams and schools.

This course provides an opportunity for students to apply leadership concepts, skills and decision making in the collaborative interprofessional health care setting. Students will also demonstrate professional nursing leadership and management roles in the promotion of patient safety. Student expectations and instructions for completing the Individual Success Plan document can be found in the Topic Materials.

Topic 6: Capstone Project Change Proposal

During this capstone project, students work with their approved course preceptor to identify and research an evidence-based topic related to the clinical practice environment. The selected topic must align to the university mission critical competencies and course domains & competencies (see Appendix A).

Central line-associated bloodstream infections are one of the most common hospital-acquired infection (HAI) that nurses encounter. This change proposal NR501 Importance of Theory in Nursing to promote continuous education among healthcare workers to help achieve the unit goal of zero CLABSI and improve patient outcomes.

The goal is to improve a fall prevention program in the clinical environment by implementing new trainings, bed alarm tones and hourly rounds. This change will reduce falls and promote a safe environment for patients.

Topic 7: Dissemination

Dissemination is the act of communicating and distributing information about a research project to intended audiences. A formal dissemination plan can help organise efforts, assign roles, structure activities and allocate funds.

Several resources are available for dissemination planning, including the MRCT Center of BWH and Harvard Return of Aggregate Results to Participants – Principles Document and Toolkit (see “Deliverables”) - provides hands-on tools for creating summaries for aggregate study findings; helpful figures, real-world examples and a communication strategy checklist. Dissemination is also a critical part of evaluation, which includes measures to determine whether the dissemination effort has achieved its desired impact.
