Discuție Transplant

I believe this is a Canadian series but with an international cast. A Syrian refugee is working in a restaurant when a bomb detonates and we learn he is a physician when he saves the life of an ER Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff is so impressed with his save he hires him to work at the hospital as an intern. May sound farfetched but he is licensed to practice in Syria and I am enjoying the compassion of the doctors in the hospital. It definitely dis not House no egos involved ; it is all about the patients so it seems more like a European series, perhaps BBC. The Chief of Staff is a veteran Scottish actor. There are a few American female doctors on staff and a Canadian male. The tacky drama of Chicago Med is missing but their is some romance it is just done well and understated. Also the scenes in the OR are a lot more realistic than most shows I have seen. I am streaming it and did not see an episode last night so I do not know if it is on hiatus. It is a very humanistic show. If you like compassion and hated House you will love this show.

How much is the city of Toronto a character in the show?

Besides being told it's in Toronto, and seeing the odd TTC bus, does it really showcase the street level view of the city and how it works where health care is concerned?

The hospital district on University Avenue is itself a rich landscape for a hospital drama. Toronto General, Sick Kids, Princess Margaret's, Mt. Sinai are all within a stone's throw of each other, under the gaze of the prominent Queens Park building and the University of Toronto lands; and also bordering the financial district, City Hall, the Entertainment district, Harbourfront. St. Lawrence Market, King West...and on, and on, and on...does any one actually ride the TTC or, as it were, stand at a streetcar stop or subway platform waiting for a delayed and overcrowded streetcar or subway train? Do any characters get Leaf tickets from some doctor or patient, or talk about a Blue Jays game or Raptors game?

For all the New York stories that feature Central Park or Times Square or some view from Brooklyn across the East River, or some restaurant, there's a ton of landmarks that would make Toronto part of any story set in Toronto.

Or, is it shot on a studio lot with all interior shots of some non-descript place that has no markers making it Toronto?

As I suspected. This, for me, is a big fail.

I skimmed a bit of the first episode, but wasn't feeling it, so I came here to ask if it was going to offer what I'm looking for.
