First, they introduce Hamilton Finn and he goes by "Finn" and now Harrison Chase and he goes by "Chase". Why can't the writers just name them Finn Hamilton and Chase Harrison?

"Hi, my name is Scorpio Robert, but everyone just calls me Robert." Silly, isn't it? I also don't understand this current fad with using surnames as first names: Kennedy, Riley, Jackson, Spencer, Franklin, Quincy. It's bad enough with all the either-way names we already have, like Morgan, Scott, Montgomery and Curtis.

Names have always bounced from surnames to firsts, in East and West and 3rd World.

It's odd how surnames often are used as firsts by girls, like Madison and Cameron and Riley.

Calling people by their last name is extremely common.

Professional athletes and politicians are usually called only by their last names, in common speech, we refer to Trump, Obama, Romney, McCain etc, we certainly do not refer to Donald, Barach, Mitt, and John, and presidents especially are known by their last names, we mention the first name only when necessary to distinguish between ones with the same last name, so we refer to Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, and Grant, but only mention the first name when absolutely necessary, so without a clear context, no one would refer to simply 'President Roosevelt', for example.

I am almost always referred to by my last name by the people who know me, this is because my first name is extremely common, one of the most common male names in the English speaking world, and as such, I am rarely the only person with the same name. When I was in the third grade, there were 3 other boys with the same first name as mine in my class, and so our teacher actually just gave us a number and called us '1', '2', '3' and '4'.

There was one person I knew in college whom I knew only by his last name, I knew it was his last name, and yet in the entire time I knew him, I never found out what his first name was, as whenever he was asked, he would refuse to answer the question.

Nice to meet you, John.

That's a good guess, but no. My name is, however, among the top 5 most common male names in the United States and has been for decades.

Sorry, I meant to say James/Robert/Michael/William.

It's one of those. smiley To give you a hint, I am named after both an Arcangel and a Renaissance painter and sculptor.

Michael.

So is your argument that there is a plethora of Hamiltons and Harrisons running around Port Charles?

My argument is that it is not unusual for a person to be known only by his last name, sometimes, it is because the first name is very common, sometimes it is because he doesn't like his first name, and sometimes it is because people are just being dicks and he got used to it. It is also not uncommon for people to be known by their middle name instead of their first name.

Gabe Buonarotti?

In the south the middle name of men is almost always used as the casual name, as the first is usually reserved for being named after a forebear.

It could have been Michaelangelo or Raphael based on the clues I gave, but I don't think that the name 'Raphael' is very common

I wouldn’t call Harrison Davis a plethora.

Plethora? Do you know what the word 'plethora' means? You shouldn't use a word if you don't know what it means!
