Discuss Van der Valk

Just finished watching episode 1 of Season 3. I enjoyed it. Feels like the series has found its sweet spot, and like everything's clicking, including regarding the two new team/cast members being perfect fit. (I prefer them to the two S1-2 team/cast regulars they replace.)

Question: How and why did Piet and Dr. Lena's relationship end last season? Obviously they split, though I gather, from Piet's reaction to unexpectedly seeing her in S3 E1, she left him? I no longer recall.

He wanted a more serious relationship and she didn't. Then she told him that she was getting married and left.

Thanks, wonder.

OUCH, about how/why Lena left him!

The "freerunning" aspect of the first crime pretty much left me cold and I thought, uh-oh, are skateboarders next? Scooter speedsters? Anyway, I was glad the second crime was weirder and less hip (unless maybe the perp wearing a hoodie could be considered hip) -- a victim getting gored all the way through by a rare Asian relic (a VERY long sword). Yowza! That. Was. Brutal. I like the possible link between the victim and a psycho neighbor from his past who burned her 2 brothers to death. But she's since been rehabilitated and freed, is married, and the mother of two - and looking like a stereotypical suburban mom! Go figure. Does she watch daytime talk shows now? Long for Lululemon yoga wear? Or is she the one in the hoodie who gored the neighbor, the guy who incriminated her in the case of her brothers' murders?

Did it look like this?

Bratface, the sheath looks similar but I don't think the sword was wavy. I'm not positive, although when it was checked for traces of blood I don't recall it being anything but a bit curved. OMG, it would've been even more brutal and sadistic to be gored by the kind of sword in your link!

I haven't had the chance to see this season. My PBS station has weakened its signal & I can't get it to scan in anymore. And I refuse to pay for the streaming channel.

Too bad bratface. Actually, I have to admit I'm enjoying Unforgotten more. It's so well-written and of course the ensemble cast is first rate. It airs right before Van der Valk where I live.

It still makes me angry. I used to watch more shows on PBS than any other station!

I still need to watch episodes 2 & 3 of VdV's S3 to become current. Am intending to do that this weekend.

merry, I, too, am in to Unforgotten (which I began following a season or two back), and am current on it. (I generally watch 9p.m. 1-hr. shows when they air, but typically, because of my Mon.-Fri. fulltime job, record 10p.m. shows to watch some other day at an earlier hour, or on a weekend.)

brat, watch your fave PBS series online (free), in HD, via PBS' website. Normally you can watch the most recent episode of anything for at least a week. Here
