It's called cognitive dissonance. Within the same discussion (episode 3), he laments the fact that Japan - and Tokyo in particular - is not as "japanese" as it was 25 years ago because of multiculturalism and oh, isn't that a shame especially because it seems it's mostly western culture that seems to be doing the intruding. But it's just fine and dandy for the UK to be heavily multicultural because FOOD! Violent crime committed by immigrants, especially in London, has dramatically increased over the past few years but James makes no mention of that but I bet it doesn't make him feel very culturally enriched. I find it odd that the only countries that "benefit" from multiculturalism are the predominantly white, western culture ones.
