Debate Девушка на час

Item: Rent-a-Girlfriend

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: For some strange reason the entire series is listed as one season which is completely incorrect. It appears the add seasons button was falsely locked? So maybe that's the reason, but episodes 1-12 need to be in season 1, episodes 13-24 need to be in season 2, and the upcoming episodes 25-present are season 3

My guy... are you actually being serious right now. Obviously they're going to be listed as episodes 1-25, THAT'S WHAT SEASONS ARE 🤦‍♂️ Seasons do not reset episode counts, they literally never have. Nor do they reset for any other show on here with listed seasons. You're just being purposefully obtuse for the sake of you don't want to admit you're wrong.

The official website breaks them down and lists them as 3 seasons, just stop. Quit with the dictator trying to control everything nonsense. I don't think you actually understand how this site works.

I invite you to read our anime rules.

And I invite you to use common sense, but that's never going to happen is it. You just don't want to admit you mixed up cours and seasons and you're in too deep to go back now so you stubbornly (and quite frankly arrogantly) shrugging off all the people correcting you. There's a reason so many people keep bringing this up and the sooner you let go of your ego and make the change the better this is going to end up for you.

Then why does Demon Slayer restart the episode count with every new "season" / arc? The Mugen Train, Entertainment District, and Swordsmith Village "seasons" / arcs all restarted their episodes counts from 1 (第一話).

"Season" in Japan isn't used the same way it's used everywhere else which is why the anime guidelines @superboy97 links to define what a cours is and how new episodes should be added to anime entries.

Some anime that are advertised as "seasons" or that use similar terms like『第X期』or 『第Xシーズン』 in Japan are technically either split-cours (like Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury using 『Season2』 for the second cours) or are sequels series that use 『SeasonX』, 『第2期』, or 『第Xシーズン』for the new series (like Rent-a-Girlfriend (this anime), EDENS ZERO, Bungo Stray Dogs or Tokyo Revengers).

All of this is why we have an anime-specific section in our guidelines; to know how content should be added to anime entries.

My guy, the policies on this site are for when new parts continue the SEASON numbering. For instances like Attack on Titan where Season 4 Part 2 continues on from 4.17 rather than being 5.1, or Season 3 Part 3 that is 4.29 rather than 6.1. Even having different releases they are part of the same season DESPITE THE FACT that the episode number at the beginning of the show says Episode 75 🙃 You know, because it's literally the same show. You know, because that's literally what seasons are. You guys are so badly taking this out of context. Though I guess now you're going to go "fix" the Attack on Titan page and make it only have one season aren't you.

You have an official site that lists Rent-a-Girlfriend as having 3 season, 3 different production numbers. Not parts, seasons. Any refusal to let the site reflect this reality when every other site lists this as 3 seasons is pure ignorance and stubbornness. I seriously don't know how you guys became mods when you don't understand the policies on this site. This is ridiculous.

You'd be right. It's been on our list of anime that need to be merged for a while.

It has 3 "seasons" but episodes numbers don't reset so there is really only one "season" and all episodes should be added to a single season on TMDB.

The policies are very clear:

  • Long-running series with continuous episode numbers (e.g. 867, 868, 869) are added as a single season (e.g. One Piece)
  • Sequels series (i.e. a direct continuation of the story) are added within the same entry. When the episodes numbers are continuous, all episodes are added to the same season. When the episode count is restarted (i.e. the first episode is Episode 1), the new episodes are added as a new season (e.g the Pokémon franchise, Re:ZERO)
  • Episodes airing in a split-cours format (e.g. Episodes 1-13, break, Episodes 14-26) are added in a single season (e.g. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury)
  • When a series is released in two or more parts, the new episodes should also be added to the same season when the episode number are continuous. Sometimes the production of new episodes is halted for a year or more (e.g. Fairy Tail / Fairy Tail (2014), Dragon Ball Z Kai / Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters, Naruto / Naruto Shippuden
  • On the other hand, reboot series, spin-off series, series set in an alternative timeline, new adaptations based on the same source material, ... are added as a new TV entry (e.g. the Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh! franchises)

For Rent-a-Girlfriend, every new production could be seen as either a sequel series or as a new part, which means the defining factor for how the episodes should be added on TMDB is the numbering used on the official website for the new episodes. Rent-a-Girlfriend uses continuous episode numbers so all episodes should be in a single season.

Well keep ruining your site, have fun then 🤷‍♂️ Might as well just do away from even having seasons in the first place if you're not going to accurately reflect them. Ridiculous
