The 1st season was great and felt like something fresh to watch, with the intrigue, clever dialogues and focus on pretty coherent world building.
2nd season felt much weaker. I think it was mainly because of the wrong pacing. Without being specific, as I don't really want to write spoilers here, they tried to to build up too much the meaning of the last room, which made the finale scene disappointing. Additionally in the first season, the bad guys seemed pretty weird, but well organized. In the second season they were mostly running around and putting out fires, which they themselves created.
The show is well worth watching, especially the first season. The second season was disappointing, but passable.

Season 2 was not good. Felt a lot like forced and artificial drama, the writing was below average. Some plot details were ridiculous and too contrived, the relationships between main characters were boring and stupid. It felt like the writers pushed really hard on the ridiculous relationship between Mark and Helly, instead of focusing on the worldbuilding. I think we see here again the same affliction that destroyed Lost - when the main trick, the main idea behind the show is exhausted in just one season and there is no other good stories to tell, the writers just waste time in order to prolong the show and enjoy its success. And btw, these extreme closeups on the faces give nothing to the story, so they should definitely stop it.
