I've seen the three Equalizer movies featuring Denzel Washington, but neither of the TV series. The thing I like the most about the movies is the way Denzel's Robert McCall character is so precise and deadly in his actions. He looks down at his watch to note the start time (having already calculated what he is about to do and how long he thinks it will take), and then off he goes! He is obviously well-trained, yet to most he appears harmless, at least at first glance. The "surprise" of turning from mild-mannered gentleman to an unstoppable killing machine who can take on a whole roomful of baddies all by himself, using only whatever is available already around him, or by taking the weapons of the men he kills scratches some itch I didn't know I had when I watch the movies.
Are either of the TV series (this one or the one from the 80s) likely to give the same feel if I watch them? And follow-up question... what other TV shows or movies can you think of that are similar in that regard? The John Wick movie franchise has some similarities and I like that too (but mostly the first one). I also tend to like sniper movies, such as Enemy at the Gates, because of the precision, discipline and patience involved. Thanks for your comments and advice regarding the Queen Latifah series or the 1985 one and any other thoughts you have about other shows or movies that share similar elements.

I've now given both series a try and to answer my own question, neither satisfies my itch for the "precise and deadly" combo the way the Denzel Washington movies do.
