讨论 The Mosquito Coast

This is such a good show so far. Breaking Bad meets Ozark. Highly recommend...

I thought it was pretty average. It was well shot and acted but very drawn out. Even when the last episode finished we still didn't know what the show is supposed to be about and most of what we got was an extended family on the run narrative. Not exactly unique or brimming with depth. But it also had countless pot holes and characters doing contrived things that make no sense in order to make the story work.

I haven't seen the Harrison Ford film but I just read the synopsis and that sounds way more interesting. If we had got some hint that that was where we were going with this series I'd have been much more invested.

Anyway related to the book The Mosquito Coast?

The book to which you've linked above, this TV show, and the movie all appear to tell a story about the same character, Allie Fox. I've seen/read none of these, so that's all I can observe, but I guess the question is, to what degree is this show related to either of the foregoing?

Who's seen/read any of the previous material? And, did you like it or not? And, why? And.. just kidding, that's all the whys for now :-)

10/10 What I wanted to ask LOL.

This guys questions. Someone please answer!

I've seen this TV series and film, but not read the book. The film and series are very different. It felt like, with the dad in the film (Harrison Ford), his actions with his family were more about his ideology, whereas in the series its centred around what he (or seems like his wife) did and escaping from authorities.

I agree with @JustinJackFlash that the show is average. Spot on analysis. Good acting and high quality filming but...nothing special. A lot of suspension of disbelief to get involved in the story.

Is the film worth watching?

If you've watched this series, then yes, it's worth watching to see the differences. On its own...i don't know, I feel like it suffers from similar flaws, the main one being the dad being so unbelievable and how his family could follow him.
