They sometimes featured a really cool musical ensemble--really talented musicians playing great music. One time they even had a band play the show's theme.

Yes they did! Just watched a few episodes on MeTV. The Frankie Ortega Trio was always playing at Dino's. Also The Mary Kay Trio. They played together in one episode. Great era for tv musicians.

Yes, I've seen at least 3 different episodes where The Frankie Ortega Trio does a rendition of the 77 Sunset Strip theme. Good cross-promoting of the show.
And I even heard the Trio do the song on the SiriusXM 50s channel recently. Nice surprise.

SPOILERS: In the episode Texas Doll, after Kookie and Roscoe get beaten up by Rick's mob friends, Kookie goes back to his apartment to put ice on his jaw. He turns on his radio and jumps on his couch. The radio announcer says something like, "And now a catchy little tune from The Mary Kay Trio." lol

The Mary Kaye Trio is credited with founding the Las Vegas "lounge" phenomenon at the Last Frontier in 1953 : an all-night party atmosphere where stars and common folk rubbed elbows in a freewheeling environment.

I really like that kind of 1950's history. Cool info! Where did you find that? I tried to research a little bit before replying. Was that in the new Last Frontier Lounge or the old Pair-O-Dice Club property? Thanks!

I searched on your original spelling, Google corrected it, and then I went to the Wikipedia page in the search results: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Kaye
That's my usual method, and it usually works.
