Discuss Avenue 5

Zapp Brannigan continues to put his foot in his mouth, Mr. Big Bucks continues to "Trump his way across the room," and it's "Tribal Council" time among the passengers. This ranks (phew!) down there with BBC's 3 part Hipster/Black-as-pitch miniseries, "A Christmas Carol" of 2019. Out of curiousity I decided to keep going for another episode or two, but acquiring a taste for this is much harder than "Final Space." If this is a "comedy," dump this onto "comedy central."

I like the satire of Armando Iannucci and would certainly not place it in the same category as the dark, ridiculously overbearing, finger-wagging "A Christmas Carol (2019)", which I wouldn't be rewatching.

So, I'll stick to this show for the time being, especially for Hugh Laurie, and see where it goes, if anywhere. wink

Thought I was the only one seeing this...said something similar on another site and it got deleted.

Heaven help me; but, this show has grown on me!

Some of the lines are pure gold; and many of the antics of the characters are so over-the-top that I find myself grinning and sometimes even joy in spite of myself.

Happy about the S2 announcement.

I've reached episode 6, and Adam Savage of "Mythbusters" comes to mind. He proved that you can polish a turd if you don't mind the stench. Judd the tiny is jealous of a newborn baby, so he sprinkles colored lights and glitter on the fecal ring. (A "Zapp Brannigan"-worthy move.) There's an Oxygen shortage? Break out the "Perri-aire" cans. "Space" 500 NEPs? Only 500? The thrills just keep on coming as the series circles the drain. (How's that for "biting, "British wit"?)

Bailed after episode 3. Rarely do that, but honestly, I was just clock watching every episode. Despite wincing often, the pilot made me laugh enough to watch further, but subsequent episodes were uncomfortably unfunny. Every character caricature taken to its intolerably tiresome extreme; shouty and puerile.
