Debate The Stand

I love this mini series and the book .. but something at the end that I didn't understand about Trash .. At the end when Trash was sitting there with the bomb and when Trash said ' My life for you " , that he meant that to God and not Flagg .. And that Trash was working for God all along ... I may have just got it wrong .. It took me watching it three times before I realized it .. Did anyone else see it that way ?

This idea was first brought up in the old forum.

Trashy was not working for God; his allegiance was to Flagg. But, as it turned out, God's interests were served by Trashy's actions, however Trashy intended them. Look at his life prior to the pandemic. Did anyone, aside from his mother, accept him? Of course not. And after, who helped him then? The Kid. With friends like him, you definitely don't need enemies. And who was it that saved him from The Kid? It was Flagg.

When he finally got to Las Vegas, there were no catcalls, no taunts, and no rocks were thrown at him. Instead, he found that people accepted him for the first time in his life. He part of something at last; he was home. And Flagg was the party to whom Trashy gave the credit for this.

It was only later that his strange nature started to re-assert itself and then he felt that he had to atone for the harm that he had done to Flagg.

Granted, it worked out for God's side of the struggle, but when Trashy called out "My life for you!" he was saying it to Flagg, not God.

Hey Gary nice to see you. I thought you left us and it make sense. I thought God as you said it worked in his favor. But your right Flagg was the one who set him up on high and helped him. I guess trash was thinking that if he got the bomb it was helping Flagg since he destroyed the other

Thank you. It's not likely that I'll leave, as this story is my favorite by King and one of my all-time favorites by any writer, and I love talking about it

And I agree with you in that Trashy was thinking he was helping Flagg when it was really God he was helping all along.
