Discusión Hatton Garden

Item: Hatton Garden

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: T'Nia Miller's character is called McIntyre not 'McIntyr' as you can see in the cast list on IMDB here: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2761963/ I have edited this to the correct name/spelling but it has since been re-edited to the incorrect name/spelling. I have since edited it again. Please note that this is correct. (Incidentally, WDC - Woman Detective Constable - is no longer a recognised rank in the British police force, and deeply sexist. I did edit that to simply DC but I appreciate that the cast list records her with this obsolete and non PC term)

Yes, "WDC Laura McIntyre" is the correct character name. She's credited as such in episose 3 and 4! police_car

We usually prefer English character names "as they appear on-screen, in official material, etc.". However, we actually do make some exceptions, as long as it still means the same or refers to the same job. WDC or DC - I don't think it matters that much, to be honest.

What matters more: Currently, the cast list is a mess! There are far too many series regulars here:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/89414-hatton-garden/cast

All 4 episodes have opening titles with 6 actor names (in this order): Timothy Spall / Kenneth Cranham / David Hayman / Alex Norton / with Geoff Bell and Brían F. O'Byrne. (Well, there's 1 weird exception in episode 3 -> Geoff Bell is not credited at all, but the title designer left the word "and" before Brían F. O'Byrne, which is a funny mistake. I didn't watch the show - is Geoff Bell in this episode at all?). Those 6 actors are definitely the series regulars - all the others are not and have to be moved to each individual episode. I made a little table/image for you with the full cast of the miniseries:

https://imgur.com/a/IC98blb

If you want, you can fix the cast according to this table/image. Oh, and what's weird: Kevin Harvey (playing Sergeant Bill Rudd) is never credited - he also doesn't appear on IMDB. I don't know why he was added at all?!? upside_down If you don't want to fix it yourself, please let me know -> then I'm going to do it. construction_worker_tone4

I took the liberty to add the whole series crew, which was quite easy in comparison to other shows. Because the crew is almost exactly the same for every episode, except for a guy called Paul Banner who is promoted to editor for episode 3. That's the only crew change for the entire miniseries - which is great. Also, I changed the 2 "Writer" credits to "Screenplay" -> because that's the official credit for both of them on screen. I don't have time to check if I did add all crew member's name's exactly - I sometimes pick the wrong name and so credits are messed up. If you want, you can check them - it just takes too much time from other stuff I do. hourglass_flowing_sand

Thanks!

Geoff Bell doesn't feature in ep 3 no, but it is right that he is a series regular. Really I would only include Spall, Cranham, Hayman, Norton, Bell and O'Byrne as regulars. Everyone else should be listed as guests and they don't all appear in all 4 episodes anyway as is currently listed. T'Nia Miller (and the rest of the cast playing police officers) don't appear until eps 3 and 4, likewise Chris Fairbank as Billy Lincoln. I didn't see a single character called DS Rudd (or Sergeant Rudd) so you're right that is an anomaly! Actors who did appear across all 4 episodes but probably should appear as guests are Ian Puleston Davies, Nasser Memarzia, Lucy Thackeray and Thomas Coombes

I've fixed the regular cast list and siphoned the rest off into guest roles per ep. One question; given that the director is the same across all four episodes, shouldn't he be included in the overall credits rather than individually in each ep?

Great! sunglasses

There's a tiny controversy about that among moderators with no decision made by Travis.

For example, both moderators @Rebecca and @Banana advise users to add the director and writer credits always on episodic level, reasoning that "otherwise the crew for the episode will be empty". They refer to the area on the episode list. For example, here on this page:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/89414-hatton-garden/season/1/episode/1

On the left, it says:

Crew 6
Directed by: Paul Whittington

The technical problem is -> when you add Paul Whittington on season level instead per episode, his name would not appear as it does now in this place. It would say: "No director has been added." Do I have an example for that - yes, here:

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/65353-carmilla/season/1/episode/1

I added the director Spencer Maybee on season level, because I didn't want to add him 108 times for each episode -> but it always says: "No director has been added." on the left next to each episode. That's what the other moderators don't want to have -> hence they add all writers and directors on episode level and advise users to do the same.

I personally think that's completely wrong, because this is a bug that Travis has to fix by how the data is presented on TMDb. Instead, now users are being advised to manipulate data to look pretty - it's a very poor editing choice and fundamentally wrong. It comes with so many other complications - but I gave up trying to explain this to my co-moderators. And, for what it's worth, it's only a small bug. bug
