Kate visits the Kuria people of southwest Kenya, they are polygamous but unusually also practice woman-to-woman marriage. She also meets a local campaigner against Female Genital Mutilation.

Kate attempts to access the intensely private, ultra-orthodox Haredim in Jerusalem. As well as learning about their traditions and observances Kate also discovers some of the problems they face.

India has been ranked as one of the hardest places to be a woman, but in north-east India Kate learns about the Khasi people - one of the last surviving matrilineal societies. Is the modern world threatening their way of life?
