Why Women Kill bediscussiëren

I must say I resisted watching this show for a while believing I understood the basic parameters of the story line in "Why women kill". I was pleasantly surprised by the many different plot twists and towards the end I gave up trying to decide who would be killed by whom and just enjoyed the dramas instead. I was also very surprised and impressed by the degree to which this series dealt quite honestly and intelligently with other very sobering themes beyond marriage and infidelity. I do not normally go for farce and the trailers all suggested a show with a strong "Charlie Chaplin" flavor. There again, I found the show was deadly serious at times. I marveled at the strong earnest performances of ALL the actors and the way the show kept a whimsical tone while dealing with some truly heavy material. Finally, I was most impressed by the innovation of the film makers like the constant almost seamless transitions between each decade, with the house serving as a backdrop. The finale showing all 3 murders occurring in the same house AS IF they all happened at ONE time was exquisite! I can honestly say I have never seen such a clever use of intermingling setting with subject matter on tv.

I am someone who HATES watching or listening to formulaic anything. I dislike shows, movies, music which jump on the popularity of a given genre at a given time, merely to cash in. So much of what passes as new TV these days lack ANY whiff of originality. So if you like being surprised I highly recommend this show. I suspect that in its vivid depiction of three decades of American suburbia, this show makes some biting statements about American Suburbia too but I think that commentary will only reveal itself in repeated viewings.

Very pleasantly surprised, 10 out of 10!!!

I saw the finale last night. It was OKAY,but I wasn't blown away.I thought this show would make me laugh more, but it didn't really. The character Michael was awful and the way Beth Ann used him to kill her husband was stupid.I feel like they could have come up with a different plan, this one didn't feel right.Hopefully the second season is better.

Perhaps I didn't approach the show with as much enthusiasm as you did, so I was more pleasantly surprised. It tried to be both comedy and drama and fell perhaps fell slightly short on both counts. I would give it top marks for originality though. Never seen such a clever use of "setting" as they did with the house, specifically the open hall area, from which they weaved all three stories and eras and I was pleased that they took the issue of "why women kill" a lot more seriously than the trailers suggested..
