Actually it was, you just didn't realize it. Because that is also why your previous argument doesn't follow. Even though these days it seems to be popular - especially among movie and TV writers/producers/etc - to just take an existing property, turn everything inside-out, and call it "new," "innovative," "deep," etc. Even though it has the same name. That's BS too.
Nope, I understood perfectly, it's you not understanding me. I watched every episode of TNG, every movie, even watched all of the original series, Voyager, and most of DS9. I prefer Picard, if you don't that's okay you can always rewatch the old stuff, but it doesn't change my opinion or the common theme in almost all of the posts of most of you who dislike it. Thank God we're all different, even if some of us can't accept those differences and view them as wrong verses different.
That Picard takes place in the Kelvin timeline was a thing that already made no sense if you think about it .To assume that things before Picard play out in the same manner as the original timeline seems a bit of a folly.Knowing that the Vulcan homeworld was destroyed by Nero makes a huge difference on the policies of the remaining Vulcans that Spock opens negotitions with the Romulans (Unification 1 &2)would probably not have happened since Vulcans would be busy finding a new homeworld and repopulate the species which was reduced from several billions to a 35,000 is something that is not resolved in a century .With that in hindsight it would be hard to believe that all the events from TOS,TNG,DS9 and VOY would play out in a similar fashion as the original timeline.
Not really. That had apparently been going on for at least decades already, for TOS, so how would Kirk and the others end up in exactly the same positions, after decades of assasinations etc? It's very likely that some of them would never have even been born, let alone risen to their identical positions. Especially, at least the way the Enterprise series showed it, Vulcans were more or less slaves for a lot of that time.
I just thought the plot of Empress Hoshi was really neat she manipulates others basically to do the kiling for her and when the oportune moment arises she takes action to become Empress.A strong female character where the current Trek writers cean learn something from.
I dunno if that's considered "strong" these days. Maybe just "conniving?" Or something. If Kirk is not to be admired for how he used women to get what he wanted, then Hoshi shouldn't be admired either. And really, all things considered, I would expect her lifespan to be even shorter than Archer's.
Don't know I think the writers of STD found legitimisation for their Mirror Universe Georgiou in that so she might be craftier than one would suspect it was her opponents underestimating her that was their ultimate weakness in the end so Empress Hoshi would have gone far. And herin lies the hipocracy of these if Hoshi is not a strong character because she used men than what are their characters now shoehorned into existing franchises isn't that(since the majority of these franchises exist because of male fans)also using men to come on top or make their character succesfull?
Ah, but see, that's part of the claptrap nonsense BS too. In that kind of world/universe, do you really think people would go around underestimating people/opponents all the time? WE might do that, cuz it's Hoshi and she's cute and kinda small and stuff. But this is Mirror Universe we're talking about. Things in the mirror universe need to make sense FOR THE MIRROR UNIVERSE, and that DOESN'T.
Yall can continue that debate all you want, and you're right that none of it would make any sense at all and that events would never happen the same way twice, if it were based in the Kelvin timeline.
Except that it's not, it's in the Prime (regular) timeline. You can tell this simply by the fact that Romulus is still gone. In the Kelvin timeline it's still very much there. But even if it still supernovas, it's not like the rest of the events would be the same.
For further reading you can see the links below should you so desire, but I thought it was pretty obvious all along Picard is based in the normal timeline:
My point was should the Kelvin timeline exist at all don't you think that Spock (and since Vulcans can grow very old) would have done everything to prevent the things during the Kelvin timeline from happening? Like let's warn the Romulans that their star is going supernova in a century from now and let's not meet up with Nero so he won't hold a grudge against me and blow up my homeplanet ?
But that wouldn't make sense either since STD is supposed to somehow connect with Picard at some point.Kurtzman thinks he can turn Star Trek into Marvel

Who cares? If they didn't move his actual brain, then it's not really him. Even leaving aside all the times he got duplicated by transporters.

Which is basically the same reason that all the Mirror Universe stuff was total garbage. Including the TOS one.

That all depends on how one preceives multiple universes/realities.

Absolutely which is why I doubt Romulus ever explodes in that timeline at all and really serves as proof Picard is in the Prime timeline.
