No I haven't seen it but in fairness I will post this glowing review. Since I previously linked a bad review here then is a good one. Hopefully this will offer a chance to discuss the new show with positivity. If you are anti-Picard, no need to repeat your arguments as they are well known already. This is meant to be a pro Picard thread

I think it has potential. I just dont agree with making Star Fleet seem like a bunch of xenophobic racists. Which goes against everything Star Trek stands for and is. I heard rumors that after the 3rd episode it might start going downhill so Ill wait and see. Who knows, it might be the new Mando for CBS.

Frankly it looks more of the same of Alex Kurtzman crap. Boring Melodrama with little substance and boring hamfisted modern politics (because you know Trump exist) and dash of pissing all over Gene Roddenberry Grave. And i have very little faith that the lazy writers who couldn't even look up to see if mars had a flammable atmosphere (it dosn't). Are somehow going to are going write the next Wrath of Kahn or Measure of a Man, Drumhead, The Inner Light or any of the great episode of TNG that have lasted the test of time.

Or maybe a majority view among Trek fans? The fans that made it possible and the reason for why STD and STP are made in the first place.

To state the obvious Patrick Stewart is not Jean Luc Picard. For him to return to ST there had to be a personal motivation and a challenge as an actor and a senior citizen and a British citizen. This was an opportunity for him to do that. He wouldn't have signed on to another adventure of the week program and the show wouldn't be there without him either.
Right now there are two different styles of ST. There is the new trek that started with the Kelvin timeline movies and in television/streaming DSC and PIC, short treks etc.
There is also the older standard Trek of 500 + episodes across 6 series and 10 films, 6 TOS, one TOS/ TNG crossover and 3 TNG films.
That is whole heck of a lot for everyone.
Happy Trekking.
As for Trumpy and Brexit they are not the end of the world and people give them waytoo much psychic attention and indirect power because of that.

Stewart is no longer a British citizen he is an American citizen LLAP
and it's 700+ episodes compared to say 50 episodes(that took them 3ff-in years to make STD se 03 still has to air) and three "movies" of slightly flavoured ST.

It pains me to see Picard being reduced to a verbal punching bag by people at least half his age and with half his experience stature and expertise .First by the space FOX tv news female interviewer(although according to TNG's season 1 episode The Neutral Zone TV went out of fashion two centuries before that),then by his Irish Romulan maid, then we had the snooty Starfleet female admiral( who probably had made a career as desk tiger rather than in active duty certainly since The Federation had been isolationist for the past 14 years) in the last episode by an alcoholic drug addicted former female crewman of color(a very racist stereotype btw)who blames Picard for white privilege while she also could have gotten off her lazy ass gone for help to beat her addictions and build a career outside of Starfleet. While being faced with early 21st century social security issues that had long been solved by the 22nd century.Picard serves as a Luke Skywalker in the Last Jedi in his own series

Leave the "Irish" Romulan lady alone. Obviously her and her husband, both former Tal Shiar, have great respect and affection for Picard. You can see it in every scene they're in.

@mcse2000ca : I take it that when you say Picard is funny, you mean it as an insult. And if you don't like it, why are you watching it?

No it's not! I think it's a great show and if the Canon Extremists don't like it,then they just shouldn't watch it.
