I wasn't overly impressed by the trailer, and E01 didn't change my mind. I'll give it a while longer as I find comedic shows tend to take a few episodes to draw me in.
Eh...it's decent for a space comedy. It's kind of odd given that we actually have a Space Force. A little too "on the button", but as a comedy can get away with it. Decent cast, mediocre product. :)
Not much of a Steve Carrell fan. Another kind of odd is that Fred Willard was in pilot for another show called Space Force in the 70s. You can find it on youtube and Jimmy Kimmel did a couple of skits about it with Fred befor he passed on.
It tried but mostly failed to be funny. I thought about 25% of it was funny, and thought the rest was just watchable. But I loved the open relationship B-plot that came out of nowhere, although it wasn't set up or explored well enough. All of the scripts just needed a bit more workshopping. Every joke is just not quite there, but comedy is either funny or it's not, so they don't get half marks. I will say this: when it was funny, it got quite a few loud laughs out of me, and that's a difficult accomplishment. I've watched a lot of comedy. Almost nothing gets a gut laugh out of me anymore. This did. Also, I didn't care for most of the characters (and the daughter is really unlikable, actually) but the lead scientist played by Malkovich is great.
