In the original script for the first Star Trek movie, the antagonist was an alien who had been responsible for the creation of religion of numerous planets to teach their inhabitants its laws in a manner understandable at their points in development. He was Jesus of planet Earth. The script was rejected because of the religious views of the production company executives.

So, changing water into wine is a magician's trick or future science.
