Cheesy writing points to that Sauron is the guy on the drift raft with Galadriel. My moneys on that guy.

I think it's MM:

He's Gandalf.

This is his first adventure with Hobbits.

Later, he teaches them to build houses in the ground.

That was a joke. 🙄 Did you click on the link?

The possibility of meteor man being Gandalf is mentioned in this post.

I also think the meteor guy is Gandalf or Saruman or a new character. I think Sauron was not yet seen in the show and would be recognized if he appeared. My guess that Sauron will be shown first in episode 8. As a second season has been announced and probably started shooting already, I think all the Sauron stuff is in season 2 and season 1 is the setup.

Okay, episode 6 seems to point clearly to Hallbrand. Still not sure. Maybe they make it so the viewer is surprised when actual Sauron appears.

The theory about Halbrand being the future Witch-king of Angmar seems more plausible.

The main reason people are hot for Halbrand to be Sauron is because they are showing off his smithing skills as a clue since the forger of the ring would need to have awesome smithing skills.

He can't be the only talented blacksmith in the Middle-Earth, right? )) Besides that, it is not enough to be a blacksmith to forge the One Ring, he also needs to be a powerful wizard. As far as I remember, Sauron is supposed to be Maia, not the mortal man. Of course, anything could happen, the writers are doing whatever they want with the texts. But I think we did not see Sauron yet, and probably won't see him until the last minutes of the 8th episode.

They seem to be doing their best to completely ignore lore laid down by Tolkien which is what has most fans in an uproar. I have to admit it kinda pisses me off too.

Hallbrand that was so obvious from the episode he appeared in

The clue is in his name: Halbrand. wink

Hal: prefix - shortened form of Hallr which is medieval Norse for 'rock'.

Brand: Germanic origin, meaning 'fire',.

So Halbrand is a 'rock-fire', 'volcano'.

Wow. Pretty astute. 👍

A. Meteor Man (aka the Stranger)?

... The Rings of Power Already Spoiled Meteor Man's Secret Identity

B. Halbrand?

... Is The Rings Of Power’s Halbrand actually a sexy Sauron?

C. Someone else?

Since this has absolutely nothing to do with Tolkien who cares
