Discuter de Cowboy Bebop

It has me worried. Especially the closing scene which came off as really, really cheesy. Where the syndicate goons are reporting in to Vicious and he just says out of nowhere, "And you will shed tears of scarlet." which is a famous quote from the original anime series but was completely out of context in the given scene. The show has me worried that it will suffer what many mediums that are based on previous mediums suffer as that is when they throw in nods to the original even though it makes absolutely no sense to new audiences and even to the context of what is occurring on screen at the time. It hints at a lack of creativity that may foretell of things to come.

I've seen up to episode 7. So far it's been fun, but had it's ups and downs (downs being the severe lack of action). However, episode 7 has been my favorite so far, mostly because of its corniness.

Me too. This show is trying to sell us on John Cho on not only being something more than Harold, but a badass intergalactic bounty hunter who was also once an enforcers for The Triads

I'm up to episode 7 now and believe it or not John Cho is the least of the problems with the show. In fact, I would say he is actually not bad in the role. The writing on the other hand is a whole 'nother animal.

It's so badly directed. The anime worked so well also bc of the vivid expressions when saying some cheezy lines which made it funny. Even in stail moments the eyes said so much in the anime. In the TV version they give this rookie dead guy "cool" expression. Only Cho has some expression but lacks the Sad veil that Spike had. In the TV show he faces and flirts with female characters probably half his age with cutie baby faces fit for a Doraimon live recreation. They don't look nothing like the lived mature women of the anime. Most characters in the anime are quite advanced in their age, mid 30s-40s, bc they all carry the heavy weight of the past. Even if they are young they look so mature for their age. Humour is just a mean to escape a harsher truth transmitting and matching perfectly the profound soulful jazz sound. In the interviews the actors clearly just think this is a show for kids or a Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer spaghetti western joke. With no book, no live characters...they should have seen the anime to understand it properly but they didn't. Seems like they don't even care to watch it out of curiosity.

Are you kidding me? How could they not have watched the anime to prepare for the role? I'm on the last episode now. I had to skip almost the entirety of the 9th episode because it was SO bad. One of the many problems with the show is that they revealed Spike and Julia and their backgrounds way too soon. The beauty of the anime was that these characters were mysterious and every once in a while you got a tidbit more information about them. But besides that, Faye is badly written. The dialogue sounds like a high schooler who just learned he is now allowed to curse wrote it. I can't believe the anime with less than half the time per episode was able to express twice as much as the TV show with twice the run time. This whole thing has been an unmitigated disaster. I honestly feel I could have done a better job directing this or even writing this.

I agree. I feel sad for Yoko Kanno who got involved for this bullshit. I don't need for it to be the same as the anime but if you have such a great example make at least a decent show out of it. You should check the Answer Google Search Interview with the two main actors. All cool and chirpy...talking of weed for half an hours bc of Cho's hit movie from 100yrs ago...that's their "research in preparation" to the "Cowboy Bebop"...Only time they spoke about the show: What glass eye? Nooooooo, Spike had no glass eye. 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑

I don't think Spike had a glass eye. He had a fake eye which in the world of Cowboy Bebop means a working artificial eye. It's pretty clear in the anime that medical technology is ridiculously advanced as they mention cancer being cured, etc. It's probably why everyone started smoking like chimneys again. yum

If The Reaper can now take his scythe to all productions Star Wars related, hope may spring even more eternal

Seriously dude. That last movie in the horrendous finale of the Skywalker saga was so bad I could not finish it. It seriously was nauseating.

first 3 minutes and you had to leave the series, that was my tolerance

Your instinct was spot on.

Old was young, young was old, Latina was fine, but Vicius was dumber than stone and uglier than profanity.
