I had not heard of lethwei before this series, but the kids in ep 3 was pretty hard to sort out. It's such a conundrum that on the one hand, success in fighting can potentially lift them from poverty, but on the other their poverty is being exploited for sport. It was obvious the producers/director/creatives knew the impact of the one young man who's face was bruised and swollen, as they used it for promotion and lingered on it while filming. And while effective, it was really hard to stomach. As more and more research comes out about traumatic head injuries you have to wonder how viable the futures are for these fighters and what long term effects they suffer. Anyway, I get the awe, but it comes with some painful introspection about it all.
