Hi, bgirl!

I totally wanted and intended to watch the season premiere - but unceremoniously missed it while unexpectedly asleep for 13 hours (3p.m. to 4a.m.!) during the height of the flu. Ugh.

Hopefully ABC will rerun that episode some night or week soon; I don't feel like seeking it out online, but would very much like to see it on t.v.

Hey genplant!

Sometimes it seems like there are only a handful of us on here. Sorry to hear that you had the flu. I'm sure your body needed the rest. Hope you are on the road to recovery.

Do you have on Demand? I can usually watch episodes that I missed on there.

I'm not sure how I feel about this show yet. Lots of action and twists but it feels a little contrived.

Take care smiley

Thanks, bgirl!

I'm most of the way recovered now, though still operating in a state of general slow-mo. upside_down

Nope: I don't have On Demand. (Could of course easily get it, but have always been entirely fine with just living with the regular t.v. programming schedule. [I do often record things to watch later, when I remember to set up beforehand - which unfortunately I failed to do in the case of this new series' premiere.])

Judging from promos I've seen for this series, it certainly looks lively and entertaining. TV Guide magazine's review of it, that was in the last issue, said (if I recall accurately) it's a fun well done series, though essentially lite, and that you should watch it for enjoyable escapism, rather than expecting to need to use your mind.

I'm looking forward to the new week's episode. This is the only new series that I have any curiosity about and that I'd like to check out.

I was going to say just that. I enjoyed the escapism of it.

I also watched The Enemy Within which was okay. Although I will admit I will probably watch anything with Morris Chestnut in it! blush

Let me know what you think of the episode that you watch. It's always fun to get other people's take on shows.

Cheers

One of the reasons I'm eager to check out the series is that it shoots on location across Europe, which automatically gives it extra points. I've been to some of the series' filming cities, so am curious to see if I recognize any specific places that are familiar.

According to the TV Guide article, the series' stars lived in Europe for 6 months to do the filming. That's something that I don't believe is the case with any other current network (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) series.

The scenery is definitely magical.

Funny you say that, I went on Scott Foley's instagram and one of his photos was of him going to register his kids for school in Prague. His wife (who is an actress) said they will spend a year in Europe. What a stressful life! rofl

I was surprised to read that his wife and children moved to Prague (a city I'm crazy about and thoroughly love) to be with him; it hadn't dawned on me, till reading that, that the Season 1 filming was done over such a long course of time.

I had believed that this is yet another series that does some location filming for a couple or so weeks, then returns to Hollywood to shoot everything else on studio sets.

SPOILERS! Hi genplant29! Hope you are feeling better. I read your post about this series over on the Mission: Impossible board. I watched all the promos, and thought it would be a re-tooled version of Moonlighting or Remington Steele, from the 1980's, where the leads end up together. But if you ever get to see the W/C pilot, at the end, "the team" is walking toward the camera in fade-out, I definitely got a Mission: Impossible vibe. Good comparison!

Hi, lima! Thanks for the well wishes! All's now back to normal. sunglasses

I look forward to watching episode 3 of WC in the new week. I liked episode 2, and was able to figure out the main type things, but felt pretty lost about what the actual mission (from the premiere episode) is, why they were chasing or following one or more person, etc. I haven't yet formed a real opinion of the series.

The production certainly looks terrific, and the interplay between the primary cast members is good and entertaining. The main woman, in particular, is fun to watch.

As for Mission: Impossible, I haven't watched episodes of that series in decades, but used to be a regular viewer during growing-up years and loved it.

This isn't your father's Mission: Impossible. It's not even your little sister's Leverage. The restaurant/bar headquarters? Really? In episode 3, "When In Rome" during the bomb scene, I had a flashback to the pilot episode of Chuck. I guess it's true, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I know it's for comedic conflict, but the team-building sub-plots are already getting tedious. If the series is long and successful, hopefully by its finale, they will become a smoothly functioning team inspite of their divergent personalities.

Thanks for this info. Although the art of making fake locations seems to have much improved these days, I was thinking the show had to be doing a lot of location work.

Enjoyed the first 2 eps (especially the second).

Edit 1: There were a lot of other boxes in that vault. Surely access to the vault shouldn't have been that hard?

Edit 2: Do the FBI really run ops of the sort portrayed in this show? I thought that was more the CIA.

I've really been enjoying this new series, and at this point have concluded it's my fave new show. (Also am fully on board with ABC's new The Fix.)

Besides this show being entertaining and the interaction amongst the primary cast thoroughly enjoyable, also the action, as well as the location shooting, is very watchable. Likewise I'm enjoying the quirky song choices that play during episodes, such as, in this week's new episode, some bouncy (and decidedly cheesy - which made it all the more perfect) Bulgarian pop song, then - especially - the upbeat version of "Black Betty" (which I loved and wish I knew who performed that!).

The last episode was enjoyable. I especially liked the ode to Princess Bride with the whole paralyzed scene.

It's the pits that this series is cancelled after tonight's finale. Hard to understand why it didn't become a ratings success, gaining enough regular viewers, as it's a very entertaining and well-produced series.

Whiskey Cavalier was my favourite new series. The regular cast is a delightful perfect fit with one another; it'll be a shame to not be able to continue enjoying seeing their interactions and adventures together.

I've read that the series' producers are actively shopping it around to other networks. So perhaps it'll turn back up somewhere.

This was the very last series that ABC made a renewal/cancellation decision about - right about down to the deadline of when an official decision needed to be made - so apparently is a series they continued to feel strongly about and really didn't want to let go.
