Discuss Bodyguard

I haven't seen all of this yet but one thing I would like to know as a matter of general interest. Do enlisted soldiers have to have their fingerprints and dna taken so that in the event of catastrophic injury they can be identified? It seems to me this should be a matter of routine. If so - how is it that the shooters military records have not been checked against people he served with? I am enjoying the series so far and do not find it remotely unbelievable with regard to the lengths that MI5 and MI6 will go to to protect the establishment. Ok - so I just watched the final episode and it was surprising how the EXPO backed off when all it took was two snips and two seconds to get the thing off !! No surprises beyond the fact that the lead actor seems to think he can be the next James Bond - maybe Basildon !!

I agree with your first observation. I'm no expert but it seems obvious to me that soldiers would be fingerprinted and have a dna sample recorded. Can't agree that intelligence agencies would involve themselves in any significant way to assist a party room change. A Prime Minister is nearly as likely to be dumped by their own party as the electorate, as current events with Theresa May demonstrate. It isn't a crisis of state; it is almost routine. Career civil servants probably don't give a toss.

As for a senior politician keeping a rape allegation etc secret in the 21st century....impossible. Ffs, the bodyguard finds details online after a few minutes of googling, so even the internal logic of the script goes amiss. And why doesn't a senior police officer know how to use a VPN?

There is a tendency for people to think procedurals that use a lot of jargon must be painstakingly accurate. When depicting the intricacies of policing, government, intelligence agencies and the like, the vast majority of us wouldn't have a clue what is accurate or not. But common sense and history tells us that the premise of this tale is fanciful.

It's a good romp tho. Best enjoyed without too much thinking.

Almost forgotten this now !! Thanks for responding. Agree with your last statement - same goes for most series these days !!
