...so what do you think? Obviously, extreme liberties have been taken to make a scripted series but I still find it interesting. And what was that “thing” drifting in behind Hynek while he’s talking to Quinn about 15 minutes in on episode 5?

I didn't pay much attention to the promo's before its first broadcast. I was expecting more of a historical documentary. Growing up I read everything I could by Donald Kehoe and Allen Hynek and the real Blue Book. To say "extreme liberties" is a kind and generous phrase. But you know what? I like it! Very enjoyable!! And sorry, no. I didn't notice the thing drifting in behind Hynek in the last episode. I 'll try to catch it, whenever they re-run the episode.

Yeah, I was expecting a more documentary style too. I mean it’s the History channel not HBO. After hearing it was the way it was on a review on the Open Minds podcast, I hoped it would at least bring onboard some younger generations that might have never heard of project blue book or Hynek.

I don't think I quite qualify as "some younger generations" (I'm a boomer), but I can see the appeal this series might have to millenials so immersed in Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Dr. Who. Now ... if we can just get them to watch The History Channel lol. I love the foreign conspiracy aspect with Susie Miller ( Ksenia Solo- Peggy Shippen from Turn). She and the other actors are perfectly cast.

All of those millenial fascinations you mentioned are fictional. Even though this series, Project Blue Book, is highly fictionalized, at least The History Channel provides a link to real events on which the episodes are based. What's the old saying? Truth is stranger than fiction? grin

It's almost totally bogus. For those who lived through this period, it's a total waste of time, unless you like soap operas and/or pure science fiction, because that's all it is. I would have preferred a more documentary-oriented series; but, on the other hand, the whole story of the real Project Blue Book could be done in about one hour total, and it would be only mildly interesting.

Exactly. And it has been both “done” and “mildly interesting”. But the whole idea of ufo’s and spacemen and MIB’s must have needed a new twist for some who haven’t even heard of Roswell. I’m just wondering if this was the way to go?
