Serious question: what the heck were the creators going for here? I kept trying to assess this (I started out thinking it was going to be interesting SciFi...it is not!), but could not tell if the creators were trying to be ironic or kitsch or what. The show is literally non-sensical with its only coherent moments being the pauses to cram down current cultural talking points (thereby "enshrining" them in the future).

I heard someone describe this as basically a drama set in space, but even that doesn't seem to accurately summarize this series. Sadly, the only redeeming quality this show had was found in Ep 10, but God help us if they get another season (which I bet they will), only to run off in the ditch again by ep 2. So disappointing!
