Fascinating story, the Rajneesh cult's settlement in the US... A lot of political intrigue and raises the old question:
Does the real power in these cults and religions reside with the priests and officials or with the oracle and gods?

Yes, with the people only if they're aware... Otherwise, they just become tools of these cynical leaders, magnifying their influence and extending their reach... The people, as subjects, give over their power to these priest type figures like Ma Anand Sheela...
