Discuter de Midsomer Murders

This "Artsy" cable TV network is currently stuck at the end of Series 5, though they may restart or resume whenever "the wind blows across Midsomer." It's bad enough that this East Coast U.S. network (and local rebroadcaster) start "Midsomer Murders" in the early morning (0100 in the "Fall" and 0200 in the "Summer), I have to check what episode is playing and when. There's no shortage of material, since "Midsomer Murders" just finished Series 20. Still, this benighted broadcaster sometimes runs back-to-back dumps of series like Season 12 of "Murdoch Mysteries" on it's way to dump Season 1 of "Frankie Drake Mysteries" in the same manner.

Lima, It has been years since I've seen any episodes of Midsomer Murders. I wasn't a huge fan, it seemed to want to appeal to the 'senior set'?

Ha Ha Ha Ha! Yeah ,,, that's me!! grin

I'm not exactly a 'spring chicken' either. I was born in the early 50's. But, it doesn't mean I want to watch certain shows. I have wide tastes in movies & TV shows.

Not an insult, bratface. wink We appear to be the same age. I've seen the ads for Midsomer for a long time, but put off watching them until now. For just the reasons you cite. Started watching in August this year. Liked what I saw, for at least the first series. I understand the first six episodes are based on the only books written by the series creator, ... only six. Trying to find a copy of any of them. Bet they're better than what episodes followed. I'll stick with it until (at least) daughter Cully Barnaby gets married.

No worries. I didn't think you were insulting me.

According to Wikipedia, it has had 20 seasons/series & production of series/season 21 started last March. So I suppose it must have some good points?

Thanks for the link! Very interesting and spot-on. The episodes written by Anthony Horowitz are probably the best ... adapted directly from Caroline Graham's books. Succussive writers have tried to copy Horowitz's style with some success. The later plots are so heavily plotted as to be confusing sometimes. An innocuous mention early in the story gives a clue to the real murderer while so many red herrings are later thrown in to divert viewer attention. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

It is March 12, 2020, and the Ovation TV network springs forward! Yep, the "Artsy folks" at Ovation made it as far as the end of season 11 and are once again back to season 1! I put up with their maximum density cramming of commercial spots to see what "DCI Barnaby and DS Jones" are/were up to through the Winter, and now it's "Barnaby and Troy" again. This network continues to play back-to-back episodes of "Murdoch Mysteries" as if they hate this CBC series, though asides from Yannick Bisson are welcome.
