Über My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman diskutieren

When this show first hit Netflix I wasn't in a hurry to rush to see it. I have been a life-long Letterman fan, and wasn't sure what a collaboration with Netflix could be. Anyway, now that we are four shows in (each of which I have waited a bit to see except this last one), I am wondering about the evolution of the show. It seems to me that the series started off very austier. It almost had a "news room" quality to it. Something that respected his age and stature in life, and a far enough departure from Late Night/Late Show that it was refreshing. That said, it seems to me as the guests have kept coming it's changing more an more into a "variety hour."

Now, I know that's an overstatement, but there was something in the first couple of shows that was more intimate...maybe more mature. With the third show there was some obvious cultural disconnect going on, try as he might to mask it with humor, but in the latest (fourth as of now) installment, it seemed that the video interludes were only connected to the guest (Jay-Z) in the faintest of ways. It just seemed odd.

Anyway, I felt a need to vent, and express now my hopes that MNGNNI (why is everything an acronym now?) will chart a new course both for David Letterman and his legions of fans.
