讨论 The Terror

Hopefully there will be one, I expect they will not continue with the same story. Instead I think they will move to something else and show us another story with lost expedition, maybe differently themed and in different environment, maybe a jungle, or a desert of some kind. Or maybe someone with big balls will even do a sci-fi story on another planet completely, better without sh!t potatoes. What I mean, there are hundreds of great stories of human explorations in unknown world and their encounters with native people and nature that lead to very dramatic and tragic results. I would love to see more stories like that.

So here are my few ideas: the race to South Pole between Scott and Amundsen, the Dyatlov Pass incident can be great as fictional story, journey of David Livingstone in Africa to find the origin of Nile, Lewis and Clark exploration of the West and encounters with natives, James Cook voyages and death.

My immediate response was to shoot you down with ridicule as clearly there can be no sequel, but your idea of making it some form of anthology of failed or troubled expeditions is actually pretty damn brilliant. I would like to add the Fawcett Expedition led by Brits to find the fabled lost city of 'Z' in the Amazon (an already quite mysterious tale), the Grindell Expedition led by Americans to find gold which led to reports of them being eaten, and the Brusilov Expedition which was the Russian equivalent of Terror and Erebus, the Russians tried to find a 'north east passage' from their Baltic ports to their Pacific ports and only one man survived it.

There will be a season 2:

"...will be set during World War II and center on an uncanny specter that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific. The second season will also once again be executive-produced by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott."

That's great news, and the subject of war terror can be very interesting. My fear, of course, is the change of the show-runners team. Kajganich seemed to be on the spot with the first season, and it looks like he did great job with Susperia as well. Now with the new runners I don't know. While the first season was based on book, which is always better for characters and dialog, the new season will be based on these writers with not very confidence inspiring credits. I'll give them benefit of the doubt though, first season paved the way and set a direction. Hopefully the second season will follow same path.

There is going to be a season 2 premiering in August 2019. (https://www.nyaff.org/nyaff19/films/the-terror-infamy)
