Discuss The Resident

I'm going to give this show a try because I usually enjoy medical dramas (except for Chicago Med). It's really over the top sometimes. You have to suspend disbelief with this one!!

Yes I'm watching and I will probably be flogged for this but I find it to be better than The Good Doctor. Probably because it's edgier and has a bit more tempo.

I agree actually. I tried to give the Good Doctor a try but realized that the main character's voice and mannerisms were a bit too much for me (I'll probably be flogged).

I also really like the nurse (I think her name is Niki). She was awesome in Revenge.

I haven't seen good doc yet, but thought the first episode was decent and I was planning on giving the show a try...is it still on TV?

Yes, it's still on, and I'm following it. It annoys me that I try to keep up through online episodes and now Citytv.com requires a signup or sign in as of April 11th and bugs for a provider such as Rogers for viewing. Looks like no more free access without extra red tape. :C

For bgirlmagic, for my curiosity, why do you not enjoy Chicago Med?

And for the people saying they get flogged for liking this more than The Good Doctor...I guess the fans you've met have been very protective of the show, or are you guys just being humourous? :) I am a fan of TGD, but I tend to lurk and avoid being reactive. Some episodes were great and some not as much. I thought the season finale was good, and I actually thought they would drag out the health scare mentioned with Dr. Glassman longer than that episode.

Takiko, I guess I just didn't click with the actors. I find Halstead's brother (cant remember his first name) unwatchable and that ruined the show for me. I'm sure I would have grown to like it if I continued watching.

The most recent episode of The Resident was unreal. Wonder what will happen to Nurse Practitioner Nicky.

I think it was trying to tick a few too many boxes to make sure it was a hit. I hope it gets a second series and can find a route. I've missed a proper medical drama since ER finished. Never took to Greys Anatomy as it's too relationship orientated.

I agree with everything you said. ER was the perfect medical drama. I have only seen a handful of episodes of Greys Anatomy and was not impressed at all.

I believe The Resident has been renewed. It will be interesting to see how Nikki gets out of that mess!

I'm watching it and enjoying. It's my first medical show. Characters are well developed, episodes are interesting and acting is good. I don't know how realistic is it (never worked in hospital and never had anything with medicine), but it's really good and interesting TV show.

It really improved over time. Can't wait for season 3

I quite enjoyed Chicago Med (still waiting for the last 2 seasons to come to streaming).

I started watching The Resident after finishing up Code Black - a mistake, timing wise. The Resident is a much slower pace. Code Black is always firing on all cylinders. I loved it. I am shocked it only had 3 seasons and most of the rest of these medical shows go on for a decade.

I’m only on episode 3 so obvs I’m going to continue watching it. And yes, Emily Van Camp doesn’t hurt! So far it seems like she has the same deviant character going on, never really know what’s going on in her head.

Update started Season 5 and none-too-happy about who we have to get used to watching without….I feel like we’ve been duped. But, I do understand life’s priorities changing :-/.

I really am not enjoying season 5. It’s like a totally different show with the new characters and the brutal and senseless killing off one of my favourite characters.
