Discuss Stargate Origins

They better have a darn good reason how they are able to use the gate long before the time of the movie.

10 10 minute long webisodes. Altogether 1:40, plus or minus credits, and pre-role or "next time on..." filler. Why not just a movie from the get go. Maybe test the waters for a longer series? A movie could do that. I was skeptical for a lengthy series that takes place before the original movie and SG-1. What the heck could they say that wouldn't break continuity and be really lame? So if this is all it is I guess it has a better chance of being worth watching that is if they can come up with a good enough reason for it to exist.

The real kicker is this "Stargate Command" subscription service. Dude, ya'll have to be desperate or money is not a concern to pay for a subscription service that is just old stargate and 10 10 minute webisodes of new content with no guarantee of anything else worth while coming. HBO and these other services at least have a variety of shows and even then it is hard to justify especially if we are looking at multiple subscription services. It's getting out of control but I'm sure the dust will settle as these services realise people can only afford a few at a time and they are going to pay for the ones that offer the most that is worth watching. I already have all of Stargate up to this point, making a subscription even less appealing.

I do want more Stargate. I just don't know how they are going to make this work and I'm definitely not subscribing as is. Go back a get us a proper ending to Universe what the heck was that ending anyway. The ending to Atlantis was bad enough but at least it was something. Crap, I'd be down for a reboot even, at least in theory. Maybe make the science a bit more smart and believable. It was fine at the time. Then a show that for so many years was knocking down the ideas of religion and gods started slowly backwalking and portraying the idea of an actual god existing outside of all these posers.

I hope I'm wrong and this is something worth my attention. It'll have to make sense within the overall story or it won't matter how good or bad anything else is.

So far I think it's a bit silly and yeah, they completely broke the 1994 movie with this. Unless she somehow loses her memory.

SG-1 was always a bit camp and a fun ride. Atlantis was some of that, but also had a more serious feel to it, like SG-1 got in the latter seasons. Universe went the BSG route and I loved it a lot for that. It was mature and grown up. This seems like a step backwards.

I'm waiting until they are all out to check them out. I think I read the 15th they will all be out.

Just wanted to add; it's intended to be viewed as a stand alone movie. They just split it up in to webisodes to get attention it seems.

So this is stitched together with a new name ?

Yup. Figure someone wanted it under movies in their library, for whatever reason.. so a merge, then.

You can't eat as much as you want to throw up on this series. Who comes up with such crap to present us here 10 minutes parts, with absolutely bad actors. This is really a fake for all Stargate fans.
