Can't say enough good things about Mary and her physical comedy turn in this episode (S7E5--"A Frankenstein's Monster and a Crazy Church Guy"). Not that I’m promoting having people fall on things, over things, or have things fall on them.
Still...
It’s just that the “retribution” resulting from(?) Mary’s dalliance was so unexpected and seemed so out-of-character that I laughed in spite of myself. I think what “sells it” is that it happens TO Mary. I think if it had been any of the others “reaping…,” it would NOT have seen so unexpected…and, therefore, probably would have been a lot less amusing.
Anyway...
Anyone else think that the writers were “paying homage” to that comedic-art-form of days-gone-by?

I'm trying to remember now what the physical comedy thing was that happened. I need a reminder. 😁
In terms of the kinds of comedy of Young Sheldon vs. The Big Bang Theory (which I know is different than what you were asking but it kind of fits here), The Big Bang Theory seems a lot more slapstick and throwing out jokes and zingers for laughs than Young Sheldon, which feels more like real life.

Wiki's definition: "Physical comedy is a form of comedy focused on manipulation of the body for a humorous effect. It can include slapstick, clowning, mime, physical stunts, or making funny faces."
Anyway...
Here is Mary's turn at the art form. Probably/may have been some in other episodes, it's just that this cluster caught my eye.

Oops!
Generally, I check to ensure that all is OK -- but, this time I didn't.
Folks put'em up. Folks (or

That was Sheldon; he loves his mother, and doesn't want her embarrassed. Missy on the other hand, doesn't mind...., especially after a party with beer.

Bless Billy. His only hope is to find a father who will accept chickens as a dowry for his daughter!
